14 Nov 2006 The article of the results of ground-based observation of Mercury's sodium emission in Japanese newspaper "ASAHI".

Work
Study of Mercury's sodium atmosphere
Since its discovery, the release process from the surface is not revealed.
More accurate observation results are necessary.
--> New observation method and new instruments
1, Ground-based observation of Mercury's sodium atmosphere
2, Observation by MSASI (Mercury's Sodium Atmosphere Spectral Imager) onboard MMO
Development of MSASI
Its spectral resolution is 10 times higher than the ground-based telescope.
Spectral resolution is ~80,000, which enables to observe dayside atmospheric emission.
3, Development of Fabry-Perot Interferometer for observation of planetary
airglow
